Chippewa Lake serves as a cherished hub for numerous groups and partners, uniting enthusiasts ranging from avid sailors to barefoot skiers, alongside devoted memory-keepers within the historical society. Together, the park district and it’s partners cultivate a collective passion for Ohio’s largest natural inland lake.

Chippewa Lake Historical Society

The Chippewa Lake Historical Society (CLHS) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that educates and fosters appreciation of the Chippewa Lake area and its history for current and future generations.

Medina County Park District (MCPD) and CLHS have partnered on a ten-year lease that will bring a museum and new trailhead to Chippewa Lake Park in 2025.

CLHS is leasing property from MCPD located at 7464 Lake Road in Lafayette Township. The three-bedroom, 1,000-square-foot house, built in 1920, sits at the corner of Lake Road and Longacre Lane, at the north end of the former amusement park property. CLHS plans to use this historic home as its headquarters and as a small indoor museum. The surrounding yard will feature artifacts from the former amusement park, including a ticket booth and ride cars.

Chippewa Yacht Club

Since 1939, Chippewa Yacht Club has fostered, encouraged, and engaged its members in the sport of sailing. The club promotes recreational and competitive sailing and provides entertaining social events for its members, families, and guests. In addition, it co-sponsors educational opportunities such as Boater Education and Spirit of America youth camps with Medina County Park District every summer.

Chippewa Lake Ski Team

The Chippewa Lake Water Ski Show Team is Ohio’s only competitive water ski show team.  The spring, summer, and early fall are full of skiing for individuals and families who want to learn or improve their skills. Hour-long shows are provided throughout the summer and are free to the public.
